A little about me (the short version)

Welcome to my online portfolio. Well, its a portfolio with a few extra fun things thrown in. Seeing as we haven't met yet, I'll give you a little info about me. I'm a graphic and web designer, musician, an avid dog lover and a voracious consumer of information. I am based out of Asheville, North Carolina.

I love all stages of the design process from planning to completion. My goal is to bring warmth, life and spirit to the often cold digital world. I take pride in all of my work and try to keep the atmosphere fun and enjoyable for all involved.

I design for web, print, and mobile and I'm willing to tackle anything else out there.

Part 1 · Wide eyed and ready to go

I was born in Asheville, North Carolina in the latter part of the year 1979. Most of my childhood was spent A) on a baseball field B) avoiding ridicule in school and C) creating art of some kind. I began piano at the age of 9, enjoying it for approximately 1.75 days and loathing it for another 3 years. It wasn't until age 12 that I found my true love, the guitar. Curvy, loud and full of mystery, I was hooked.

Part 2 · Finding the right path

Much to the dismay of my parents (love you guys), music became my one extracurricular activity. I began playing in bars at the age of 16, all the while producing the posters, album art and merchandise for my groups. This would eventually lead me down the road of web design, Photoshop, Illustrator and any other tools I needed to get the job done. After a brief stint at The University of North Carolina at Asheville, I went on to graduate from The Atlanta Institute of Music. For the next few years it was constant life on the road, playing music with my group Fifth House all across the United States. I moved back to Asheville to be closer to home and enjoy its now thriving art and music scene.

Part 3 · Paying dues and working hard

As long as I can remember (which is shrinking), I have expressed my view of the world through some form of art. I found a particular affinity toward computer-based art and design. I began picking up work as freelance web designer and things began to shift. Wanting to enhance my skills and learn as much as I could, I enrolled in the Digital Media program at Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College. Yes, in school . . . once again. I am now busier than ever and constantly looking ahead.
